  This comprehensive perinatal mental health online training program is designed to provide mental health professionals with a structured approach to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of perinatal mental health disorders. It has been underpinned by evidence-based best practice and in accordance with the 2023 Guideline - Mental Health in the Perinatal Period: Australian Clinical Practice Guideline. The course was developed by COPE in collaboration with experts in the field and consumers. It is delivered by Dr Nicole Highet (D.Psych), Founder and Executive Director of the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE). Nicole is the Chairperson of the Australian Clinical Practice Guideline Expert Advisory Committee, and has lead the development of this course to support putting Guidelines into practice.

Nicole was also Chair of the Australian Clinical Practice Guideline Expert Advisory Committee, and has developed this course to support putting the Guideline into practice.   The Kimberley Mum’s Mood Scale (KMMS) has been developed and validated as a culturally appropriate approach to screening Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander for perinatal depression and and anxiety. This module provides and overview to using the KMMS and details how to perform a routine psychosocial assessment using the KMMS and discusses referral pathways based on assessment outcomes. This module is provided free of charge, courtesy of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service and AMSED 24/7.
